hey,
just went for a estimate for an install for a flowmaster 80, pipes, and tips and the dealer wants 350 for the work...should i tell them where to shove it or what?

well is it $350 for labor...or for parts and labor...i am getting the new flowmaster 80 catback system they have for the 3.8's and its costing me about $350 for labor and everything.
I bought my flomaster muffler with 2.25in in and 2.5in out for about $100 and had a local shop install it using 2.5in pipes for $60. So in all I paid $160 for my flomaster. They also said they would put my chrome tips on free of charge whenever I bought them.
i htought it sounded pretty expensive i think ill just order the muffler tail pipes and tips myself and have a cheap muffler shop do it or something........i thought that a set up the TheBeast's 3-inch catback set up would cost aroud 350+ but just to attach a muffler? i thought it was way to expensive also! anyways anyone know of a good muffler shop in MA? Lou's was the plae that gave me the 350 estimate.
thanks
eddie

I have mine installed for quite sometime now and the local guy I went to is a muffler shop. Mine was 130 bucks out the door installed. Flowmaster 80 series. He also welded my subframe connectors on for 40 bucks. Very reasonable and great guy to deal with and best part is he lets you watch the whole operation.
350 is a major ripp off!! Shop around.

got my 80 series from summit for like 80, and then got it installed for 100 at a local muffler shop. They charged 60 to hang the muffler (they quoted me 35) and 40 to run 2 new tail pipes. I thought 100 was pretty reasonable, because all the other muffler places wanted 150+. Shop around... best places to call are the little guys, with no ads in the phone book, only a name.
Good luck
