  • Pounding the insides of the Cat converter out

My cousin has a old Monte Carlo and he
took all the stuff out of the Catalytic
Converter with a crowbar and a hammer.
He just pounded the stuff inside the cat
out, basically leaving nothing inside. I'm impressed because he doesn't have a high performace muffler and it sounds good.
I'm wondering if I can take off my Y pipe
with the cat on it and start doing the same
thing too. Has anyone done this on their
    Fbody yet???

It would be just like straight piping it. It would probably make your car sound very ricey.

It's been done before...it's called gutting the cat. It's the cheap alternative to an off-road pipe.
