Performance Exhaust

Yes, I've read the many posts about exhaust, so please don't flame me on this overtalked topic....

I'm looking for an inexpensive exhaust setup for performance but not really loud. I don't want a catback because I don't want to spend $600. I know flowmaster makes a good muffler, but I hear its really loud.

Don't get me wrong, really loud is fun every now and then but gets annoying as a daily driver. I don't mind going a little louder than stock, I just don't want to get ridiculous or even worse...ricey!

I was looking at the SLP Takeoff exhaust. I think somebody once suggested dynomax and ravin to me. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a muffler or exhaust setup for under 200 bucks that gave them a noticeable performance improvement. I will be getting an SLP CAI and a Whisper Lid to go with it.

To sum it up, I'm looking for the exhaust setup with the best performance increase without being too expensive or too loud. (and its gotta be dual out)

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I've never heard of an exhaust setup for under $200. I would go spintech I have one and it is perfect. Sounds good not like an 8 but good.

you can get the flowmaster muffler series 80 for about 80 bucks, then get the 2 pipes seperatly from summit racing $40 each for 3" thats $160..there goes your whole cat back, now why not add a 3" highflow catco cat? for 60 bucks..

thats 220 for your whole exhaust system, now u only need tips and the dual out pipes your muffler shop can provide..

SUMMIT racing has all your parts.

Do What I did, I loved it.
I bought a Magna Flow muffler for about 80 bucks, got stainless steel Z28 tips put on for another 100, and had them welded on for a mere 25 dollars!

It looks great and sounds even better!

I'm currently looking at switching over to a Dynomax SuperTurbo, and here's what I've found:

Muffler: ~$50
2.5" Mandrel I-pipe (Finally found one!): ~$70
2.5" Mandrel Bends to form S-Pipe: ~$18ea. x Qty.2 = ~$36
TOTAL: $156

Add to that labor and cost of tips.
And as someone already said, you could also buy a high flow cat for ~$62.

Check out the Ravin' systems avialable at Midas. I just had one installed yesterday and really like it. It isn't overly loud like Flowmastrs, but has a deep throaty sound. Call them up and get a price quote. It ended up a lot cheaper than I thought it would be.

as it has been shown, you can put together a catback for less than 600 ;)

If you really want to save some money, ditch the tips & go with dual turned downs.

600 bucks is getting into headers range (really more like 800 or so for full exhaust).

I bought the dynomax superturbo muffler for like 50 bucks shipped and had it installed for like 30 bucks, of course i already have the y87 so i had the duals and tips, but for bout 80 bucks total i didn't do to bad. plus the superturbo sounds bad *** , very deep, not very loud, but mean at wot

I would try to hold on just a little bit longer and save your change. I found a Borla Catback on on CamaroZ28.com for $400. I am really happy with it plus it looks and sounds much better that a cut out or a Flowmaster set up.Good luck [img]smile.gif[/img]

40 Series = single outlet (I have one right now. And yes, there ARE dual outlet 40 Series Flowmasters, but those are NOT made for the crossflow position on our cars.)
80 Series = dual outlet. slightly louder than 40 series. If you're going to go with Flowmaster, I'd say get the 80 Series.

Yes, the 80 Series Flowmaster is about the loudest muffler you'll find for our cars. What I believe is actually "recommended" by Flowmaster for our cars is the 50 Series Deltaflow muffler. You can check their online application guide for more info.
