• can i put 2000+ manifolds and is it worth it???

Hey, i heard that the 2000+ v6 camaros have header like exhaust manifolds, is that true? Shoulde i go to a junk yard and get pair for my exhuast system? is there away i can be able to put them on my 97 3.8 camaro? Please anyone who can help???

2000+ 3.8s have tubular exhast manifolds -not quite headers, but better than the older manifolds
Im pretty sure they'll fit the older 3.8's but buying headers may be better in the long run
I could be wrong tho-I know a lot more about the 3.4 than the 3.8

thank you. yea, im gonna do my exhaust system soon and im getting everyhting new from the y-pipe back. I dont have enough money for the headers so if i can get some 2000+ manifolds cheap i would not mind putting it in instead of the older maniflod i have. Is there anyone else who would have an ideas?

Yeah, the tubular manifolds would be better, but unless you're getting them free or very cheap (50 bucks) , I'd wait for the Pacesetter headers. They should be out soon, and shouldn't be much more than the new 2000+ manifolds. That's what I'm gonna do. Do a search for more info on them. Hope this helps. :D

I heard that thee 2000+ manifolds are about 5 hp more than the old manifolds.
Us pre 99 cars have a disadvantage of the manifolds and 97 and earlier have the 2 piece drive shaft.

I found out some about having them ported. There are like only two ways to do it.

1 is to cut them in half, port them and weld them back together.

2 is the flow some fluid with metal in it though the manifolds.

What exactly does porting consist of ( what is it)? I know polishing will smooth out the metal and allow gases to flow faster, but what is porting, is it like boreing (sp)?

yep porting makes the passages bigger, you want your headers/manifoldes passages bigger than your heads exhaust port to keep exaust gases from reentering the combustion chamber

Will pacesetter have a C.A.R.B stamp?
(California Air Resource Board).

If not they will not be legal here in Cali so the 2000+ manifolds may be an interesting option for us.
