Flowmaster Question

Hey, I don't know too much about exhaust so I was hoping to get some help hear. I have a 95 Firebird 3800. Anyways, I saw on the page on this site that there are two things that help with exhaust, the Flowmaster Muffler and the Flowmaster American Thunder Catback. I want to get an 80 series Flowmaster muffler but I want to have the tips and I-pipe and everything else that comes with the American Thunder Catback. Basically, I want to get the 80 series muffler as well as everything else (and I want to stick with Flowmaster for everything else) besides the cat converter for my cat back system. COuld ya please just tell me what is possible and what the best way to go about doing this is. Like I said I don't know too much so I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

Welcome to the site.

Flowmaster makes a cat-back kit. It includes the muffler, i-pipe, tail pipes and all the clamps. I bought kit part number 17356 from Summit for $257.00 plus shipping. However, your part number will be different because you have a 3.8 v6.

Now just a word of warning...there will be many replies to your post with people saying "Dynomax is better", "the Loudmouth produces more horse power", "Borla is the way to go", "get the 3" pipe", "get the 2 1/2" pipe, etc, etc. With all these decisions to make one may think that chosing a cat-back is too complicated. It is not.

Just remember the basics:
1) get a madrel bent system. (most brand names including Flowmaster are)
2)make sure the pipes and muffler are at least made of aluminized steel. This steel last much longer than galvanized steel. You can also go with a stainless system like Borla but be willing to pay 200.00 or 300.00 extra. Stainless last much longer. Probably longer than the car.
3) Buy the part number made for your car if you want an easy installation you can do yourself. For example: Flowmaster makes a 2 1/2" system for your car, which is 1/4" larger than stock and is a direct fit. OR you can buy the one for the V8 which is a 3" system. However, you will have to have it modified slightly to fit your car.

Vist the Flowmaster web sight and give them a call. Ask them about the part number, if you should go to the 3" system and ask them for a dealers location in your area.

All catbacks flow just about the same on our cars. Just find a sound that you like.
