I was wondering if y'all could help get me pointed in the right direction as far as buying a lid. I'm not too familiar with them and I would like some of y'alls input before I buy one.

Does the home depot lid really provide any better air flow? I thought it was the oval shape of the lid that restricted air flow, not the actual tube?
Can anyone provde serious numbers to the performance gain of this mod? Or if not serious numbers than could you feel a definate SOTP improvement?00 Pewter Y87 Camaro-SS Hood/Chrome rims, Black Halos, Clear corners, Pacesetters, V8 K&N FIPK, 3\" B&B TriFlow, HPP3, MSD Coils, Taylor wires, Transgo stage II, Edge 3000 Stall, 180* thermo, SLP Bowtie Grill
Carro

I had the Home Depot and now the Whisper.
1. I have absolutely no numbers at all, strictly SOTP. Yes, you can feel a little difference - don't go expecting the V6 to suddenly perfomr like an LS1, though!
:D
2. As far as the Whisper Lid, I have one and like it very much. But if you look at the outlet, you'll see that it is not a perfect circle the whole way, either. It is definitely bigger than the GM airbox opening, however.
3. There is also the matter of the baffles inside the GM airbox. Those can be snapped / ground out also.
The only reason to do a Home Depot Lid, is if, like me, you have to save up spare change to pay for any mods. For a couple of bucks, I had a better airbox (and the sound was much better) while I saved towards getting the whisper lid.I solemnly swear I am up to no good.

If it doesnt rain to much tonight Im gonna do the Free ram Air mod and silencer removal mod. Thanks alot for your reply everglades, I did a search and found a bunch of stuff on these things and it sounds like a pretty good way to go, I might even attemp to remove the baffles from the inside of the lid.
I had another question, if i did both of these mods(silencer,FRA) is it necessary to raise the air box as well. Any input would be mucho appreciated.
Oh and I have to appologize for the person who originally posted this message, I didnt mean to steal your post man, I really hate that!! I guess Im a hypocrite.00 Pewter Y87 Camaro-SS Hood/Chrome rims, Black Halos, Clear corners, Pacesetters, V8 K&N FIPK, 3\" B&B TriFlow, HPP3, MSD Coils, Taylor wires, Transgo stage II, Edge 3000 Stall, 180* thermo, SLP Bowtie Grill
Carro

Well I just finished the FRA mod and Silencer mod.
Honest opinion:
The Silencer mod alone kind of felt like it made my car a dog on take off, and it didnt down shift properly when I gunned it.
Once I finished the free ram air mod and took it out for a spin at first I didnt notice any real improvement until I got it up to about 60, I think the car started getting used to the air flow, and then it started to come alive a little more, kinda moved my RPM's up a little. The car definately likes the free flow of air, plus it made my exhaust tone deeper which is an added bonus. For a total of 17 dollars it was worth it. :cool:00 Pewter Y87 Camaro-SS Hood/Chrome rims, Black Halos, Clear corners, Pacesetters, V8 K&N FIPK, 3\" B&B TriFlow, HPP3, MSD Coils, Taylor wires, Transgo stage II, Edge 3000 Stall, 180* thermo, SLP Bowtie Grill
Carro
