  • Have no acceleration at high speeds?

I have no acceleration at high speed over like 70-80 mph. Is this my cat that is clogged or something? What should I do? And if I have to get a cat what kind should I get?

A clogged converter will give lousy gas mileage and make the car perform poorly at almost any speed. If you are going to replace it, go with a Magnaflow (carsound) Converter. Do a search for them here in this section and you'll get all the info you need.

I'll try to look into a cat now. I thought that could be the problem but wasn't sure. Thanks

The only thing wrong is our 3.4l dont make very much horsepower. 70-80 is in 2nd gear and 2nd gear just plain sucks. try looking into gears or poweradder to expect gains in the upper mph

I would go with a cat also.
my 3" exhaust and high flow cat helped a little in the higher mph range, but its hard to tell at that speed too.
The 3.73s helped the most. My car pulls waaaay better at 75mph now compared to when I had my 3.23s

You have 3.4 not exactly a top end motor.

Sounds like your car is just running out of balls.

Yeah, a big problem with the 3.4 is the fact that it is a hydraulic flat tappet cam so over time, the lifters and cam have ground each other down producing less lift from the cam. When I removed my stock one, I had a few lobes that were producing rediculously low lift. I would assume that this is the reason for the low top end power on my 3.4 before the head/cam job. Now, it kicks ***. You can get cheap cam/lifter kits that are about the same profile as stock or a little larger that would revive your lost power.
