Guys as in a preivious post I am thinking of gutting my coonvertor to gain a few xtra horses and a louder sound. However I've heard it is possible to loose power here rather than gaining. I shouldnt loos total BP becaus I still have the stokc S-pipe on teh exhaust system. My exhaust system is as folloows: CAI headers w/y-pipe - stock convertro and s-pipe - Borla 3in. catback. With that being said would I loose power here by gutting the convertor???

you will lose more BP and your tourqe curve will move up farther on the rpm band. i dont really think the sound you'll get will be what you want. from what i have heard from many, its make the exhaust some more rice.

I had to gut mine until I can figure out whats making it run rich and clogging them constantly. The car felt exactly the same as it did before. Of course I have stock piping with some muffler the guy before me put on. As for sound, its nice down low, crap up top. Really I'd leave it alone unless its clogged or you don't want to worry about it ever clogging again.
I know once I fix my rich problem, I'm buying a catback and a hi-flo cat to match it.Black 2000 Firebird w/ 3.42\'s, LSD, !maf, Whisper Lid, FTRA, K&N Filter. My Crappy Page

My car went from a 14.8 to a 14.6 when I ditched the cat.
