  • Off-Road Pipe and O2 Simulator ? ?

My car is a 1997 model, so that means it was made and purchased in 96... so with that being said, is my car an OBDII ?
I know that all cars with the number 1997 (and up) by them are, but does that mean all cars made in 1997 and up (meaning 98+ models) or 1997 models (cars made in 1996)?
    So....if I went with an off-road Y pipe, would I need an O2 sim?

you wouldnt need one, it just depends if you like looking at your SES light all day. ;)
6s.......under the hood or under the belt, they just dont cut it.

like was said above you don't HAVE to have one and yes you have an ODBII if you have a 3.8 it's ODBII.

So, since my car is an OBDII, I would run the risk of throwing engine codes if I didn't go with an O2 sim? Would it be better to get one just to get on the safe side?

          umm isn't 95-97 3.8s have 2 O2s? One pre-cat and after cat?

You'll need one (o2 simm) after cat if you're going Off pipe.

If you don't mind an SES light, you don't need one at all. If you do mind the SES light, you'll need one for the post-cat o2, but the problem is the o2 simms only come in pairs. So try to get another v6er to buy in w/ you.
I've heard of some of our cars NOT setting off an SES light even w/ no o2 simm and a straight pipe.
IMHO, forget the o2 simm, and endure the SES light

                  Hhhmmm that's weird...

I've looked underneath my car several times to check out my exhaust, and I only have one *huge* cat, just before the S pipe and a little after the Y pipe....

I can also find a 'used' O2 Sim on LS1 classifieds or the for sale board here....

Thanks for the help guys
