• Fast Toys Ram Air Installation

I just got my fast toys ram air in the mail today and pulled out the instruction manual...whoa! This thing is like 20 pages! Is it just me or does it seem like it would be a P.I.T.A. to install? Can anyone who has installed one of these offer some assitance and maybe some tips so when I tackle it tomorrow I'll have an edge on this thing?

thanks
Jimmy

2.5hrs bah it took me an hour in 90 degree August Florida weather.

Here I'll condense it real basic for you...

1.) Remove airbox assembly (open the hood...the whole black thing in front of you.

2.) You have to cut certain pieces of the lower air box assembly out (it should show you in the manual)

3.) Place it back in. Those holes are cut so that you can place the FTRA in it's place. Once it's in place, go under the car and bolt the middle bolt at the bottom of the ram air plate in.

4.) put everything back on

4.a) some people screw it in on the top as well, I didn't bother because it would take ape-like strength to move it so I didn't waste my time with that one.

5.) Install the entire airbox assembly back together.

Maybe this will help you with the cutting...

Keep in mind your sensor positions are in different spots on the V6. The only sensor you will worry about is the one that's in the lid (it's shaped like a bulb)

i followed the instructions exactly. oh, and it helps if you're a college lineman and strong as hell 2 bolt it down on top.

that's why I never bolted it on top. It really isn't necessary since the FTRA isn't moving anywhere with the bottom bolt and the airbox on top of it

Yea, this can be a pain in the *** doin it by urself (like I did) Get someone to help you, pulling out the air deflector is a kinda hard. Cutting everything is easy, everythings basic. You might run into the problem of having the holes NOT line up with where your supposed to bolt it in at the bottom of the car (brace bolt) 3 deflector bolts. Either have sumone pull it down and you screw it in while its in line, or your going to have to put the screws in at an angle.
Good luck

The reason why the bolt holes for the lower air deflecter, do not line up, because the holes in the ram air box are to high they need to be about 1/2 inch lower, then you can attach the scoop with no problems. That was the major pain in the A** I just left it off , Now I know why SLP kit doesnt have that lower piece, its not needed.Fast toys needs to fix that problem. If I could do it over I would go with the SLP kit.Installation was strait forword everything fit like a glove. The performance improvement was also very noticeable.
