  • do you really need heat shields

    im rebuilding my engien and i was just wondering do you have to have them my manifolds look alout better with out them becuase i sprayed them with some high temp paint and would really just like to put them on with out the heat shield

    If there are any wires that are semi-close to the bare manifolds, they will be melted away. Better off to re-install them.

      Paint the heat sheilds. you do really need them unless you want to change plugs and wires daily

        Buy some headers...no heat shields and they look awesome. [img]smile.gif[/img]

          lol yeah i wish first i need to pay off the machine shop i would love headers but damn 500$ for rk if pace setters gets there prob fixed maybe i can afford them i dont know. I really should just save up for a trans am. Anyways i dont mind painting the heat shields except they just looks so stupid it covers the entire manifold when the engines in.

            only heat shield you really need is the starter one. least thats the only one i have left after my rebiuld, i dont have any motor lifts too lol

              what year is your car? in order to get my heat shields out i had to destroy them. do you have tubular manifolds?
