  • O2 sensor throwing code with headers... what to do?

Today my SES light came on. I was pretty sure it was o2's and sure enough it was. I know i can get simulators for it. My question is when my o2's are throwing a code like that will it affect anything ... such as gas mileage? Thanks for the help.

No... shouldnt affect anything other than that annoying light in the dash....

You cannot get simulators for the O2 sensors in the headers. This is what tells the computer how much fuel to give (among other things). The O2 sim is only good for post cat sensor.

My guess is that the 02 sensor that is throwing a code is the post-cat 02 sensor. ALl that one does is set off an SES light, but it doesn't affect air/fuel ratios or anything else. If that is indeed the sensor which is creating the code, an O2 simulator from Casper's Electronics will fix it. ((P.S. Get the one from Casper's... their's actually works.))
But, if the sensor throwing the code is the header sensor, you cannot replace that one with a simulator, as stated above, because that one actually relays information to the computer to decide of fuel amounts, etc.

after i did mine ive been getting codes on all four sensors. i know that cant be right since one of them is brand new. i justs cant seem to figure out what the problem is. ive got a tester im going to try to hook up to each sensor individually.
