• Serious Question

What makes the BB Tri Flo Catback have 13rwhp gains? Are the gains from all other catbacks the same? If I have a Flowmaster Catback will it give me the same amount of rwhp gain as the bb tri flo? WHAT MAKES THE BB TRI FLO SO DIFFRENT?

two swift punches at the keyboard to the numbers labeled "1" and "3"

Seriously, when was the last time you'll ever take a horspower number (dyno proven or not) as FACT. NEVER. Trust me that practically all the exhaust system are the same. We're only running a 3.8L motor, NOT a 750hp dragster where different mufflers are going to make a difference.

I don't care what anybody tells you. B&B and Borla are a waste of money for a V6 PERIOD; unless you get it off ebay or something for half of the price. That 13 hp dyno might have came off of one lucky car. They're both stainless steel and all, but most aftermarket exhaust systems are aluminum and they don't rust neither. ;)

not to mention that both b&b and borla both weigh alot because of the stuff their made of. so any extra horsepower u'll get might be canceled out by the added weight. I think i'm changing my mind and going with the flowmaster

The Triflo's come with a dyno sheet from a stock 97 v6 camaro. The average is 13hp with a 22hp increase at one point.

22hp? sounds cool. At the flywheel or RW?

I'd second the 13rwhp gain from the B&B catback. I've had dynomax and that is supposed to outflow alot of mufflers out there, but the b&b is a really nice gain. You can really feel it open up up top. IMO flowmaster mufflers are just for sound, you might get small gains, but the b&b mufflers are engineered to provide big gains.

I'm not seeing any 13 or 22 rwhp gain from exhaust, its just not happening for the 3.8.

Me and you both. Until more people HERE shows 13 hp gains from THEIR dyno sheets, not one that was quoted from B&B. A salespitch (lie) is what get customers to buy their products.

Well, unless u guys actually tried the BEFORE and AFTER of the b&b catback, i dont think u should have any say. I definetely felt a big difference with mine, alot more than with my dynomax. Just because your flowmaster isnt producing the numbers u want, doesnt mean that there arent any good catbacks out there that can produce gains...

I'll let you know on that note this weekend when I hit the track. Until then, what you "feel" is all in the mind. Show me some dyno sheets or 1/4 mile reductions since you changed systems. ;)
