not to answer for him but he had the edelbrock cat back. I have that now with 3" catco and s pipe and i LOVE IT. i have heard a loudmouth on a couple v6's here is my honest opionion. Idle sounds GREAT inside th car sounds loud and decent..... outside the car under ANY (and i mean ANY) sort of load I.e WOT or even just going up a hill sounds like SH!T most people who have it thinks it sounds great UNTIL they let somoeone else drive their car and they listen as it goes down the road then they change their mind. thats my take on it. Question. I used to have a v6 3.8L 96 Thunderbird. I put flowmasters on it just to mess around and it sounded very good throughout the power band. Even at redline it wasn't raspy at all and I let my brother drive it down the road.

Though this was with 2 flowmasters and no replacement of any stock piping nor catback. It sounded way better then the v6 sound clips I have heard 3000+ rpm's.

SLP does not sound all that good once you are above 4k rpms. The American Thunder that i have on my car sounds pretty good espally with the catco cat. If you want to hear a sound clip, click here, then click on flowmaster1. Enjoy!

Does having 2 mufflers have anything to do with it? I haven't seen anyone's setup here consist of that. /shrug Just a thought

I tend to disagree. I think they V6 stangs (newer ones) sound like crap, they have sound a wimpy sound. I do believe our engines sound better than theres.

I'm not talkign about stock exhaust. I can't really speak for the newer mustangs I just know what my T-bird sounded like and it was different then the camaro. Actually when I first bought my camaro and a week later I rev'd it up high, I heard a *rattling noise* from the exhaust. Service assured me that nothing was wrong it was just the egr valve or something and they are supposed to make that noise or else they would sound like 4 cyl.

At idle it sounds great.
Once it goes above 3,000 rpm's it sounds like a pissed off weed wacker.
Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I used to have rk sport headers, 2.5 catco, 2.5 pipes, edlebrock cat back, I was happy w/ that.

I now have rk sport headers, full 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust, 3 inch catco, slp loudmouth. Idle is good, above 3000 = pissed off weedwacker.

Try a search in the lounge for some n/a 14.3 runs

On the bottle it gets MUCH louder

I still think the best and cheapest set up was:

Madrel bent 3" S-pipe with high flow cat into a cutout...

I had that with my stock exhaust and stock I-pipe. Once i got the flowmaster, 3inch I-pipe, and the highflow cat that rattling sound is almost none exsitant. It is still there but not as bad as it was before.

A Ford mechanic told me that Mustangs come with stock headers, even the v6's. Maybe that's why they sound better.
