• What is the 'bladder' behind the air filter?

K, I tried to install a LS1 motorsports lid, and since the thing is not offset to match the firebird's intake, I am trying to be more creative. (this is my first time doing this.) So after I took everything apart up to the MAF, there is this plastic bladder that appears that it just stores filtered air. Do I need it? What does it do? Can I just pipe from the lid into the intake?

    Thanks

That is the air silencer. It slows down and muffles the air coming in to the throttle body. The whole point of the lid is to remove that.

Thanks. I work for an air seperation company so I can easily understand what a silencer does.
