Shorty vs. Regular Pacesetters

What is the difference between Shorty's with a Y-pipe and regular pacesetters? I imagine that the shorty's are shorter, but are there performance differences?

i think pacesetters are only shorty's, someone correct me if I am wrong.

I know they have mentioned in the past that they are working on a set of long tube headers for our cars, but I have yet to see them.

pacesetters are shorties. i dont think you can get "regulars". another member on here customized his pacesetters and made them long tube headers and supposidly it makes the sound better but im not sure about perfromance. i wouldnt dought it could hurt to have long tubes

Correct, Pacesetters are all shorty. Last time I spoke to Fred at Pacesetter, he commented that the developement on the longtubes for our cars is "on the back-burner."

yeah cause we wont buy there ****ty products so why would he make something else to be rejected.

unfortunatly, the truth is alot of people are still buying them cause there the best still. :(

Lol, one run of bad headers and they are all crap now huh? And you think they'd be rejected?? I think alot of shorty guys would drop their current setups like a rock for a longtube and ORY combo!

The reason why I am asking is because I was looking at texas-speed.com and they have two different categories at different prices, and I got confused. I didn't think that there were different sizes for out cars. Here is a link:

id drop them for long tubes. but my understanding is that the other problems(not including y-pipe being to short or whatever) is a all around problem, not just the bad batch

My mistake. I was thinking that the Performance system up at the top of the page was the same thing as the headers at the bottom of the page.

While I am thinking about it, is $320 a good price for ceramic headers?

OneQuickV6, i think if you convinced pacesetter to come out with long tube headers, i would and i think alot of other people, would replace there shorties if they would fix there problems

Cool. That is going to be something I have to get. Would it be worth it to go ahead and spen $100 dollars more to get the ceramics?

What are some of the problems that people have with Pacesetters? Is it with them fitting, or breaking?

There was a batch that pacesetter produced where their jig was incorrectly set up and the y pipes came out a bit to narrow to match up to the flanges of the headers. It seemed like a handfull of people on this board bought them at approximately the same time and got ones out of that batch. Now they are alleged crap because of it. Mine fit perfectly and Im quite happy with them. I can understand the frustration of those people who did end up dealing with this issue, but that isnt indicative of there typical production runs.

Blldog, you have been a complete contradiction of yourself in the last few threads Ive seen you in. You hate pacesetter and talk about their shoddy products, but would go for their long tubes if they could be coerced into making them? Have you considered going into politcs?
