Orignally I was going to do 100% of my exhaust installation, but now I'm having second thoughts. If it was just catback I'm fine because that's so easy and I have access to a lift, I woulda taken it to get welded but still, wanted to at least do most myself.
With the cat I got tho (carsound, 3" in/out, universal i think 13 or 16 inches long) its shorter than stock so I'm guessing I'd have to have an exhaust shop rig up some sort of extension. Also I'm not sure about old cat removal/new cat installation at the Y pipe.

Should I attempt it myself, of just take it in? If I take it in I can get the warantees too, so I guess that's a plus even though I want to do it myself.

Also, would I be able to install the 02 bung in the s-pipe myself?

Just get a peice of 3'' pipe and make the extension yourself. Also if you can weld you can install the bung, you drill a hole and weld it in. What don't you get about removing the cat? Just cut it, the stock collector is 3'' anyway.

i would do it yourself. anytime you take it somewhere you get raped on charges.

i know you have a earlier 4th gen but is it a 3.4 or a 3.8? 3.8s are 3in be the cat and 2.25 in after.

youll most likely have to cut the cat off with a sawzall. then it will just slide on the collector. i would suggest clamping the cat on front and back so that way you can easily remove it if you ever need to, like for fun or if it blew. use heavy duty clamps though not the cheap ones.

since you got a high-flow cat i wouldnt even recommend using the o2 sensor as it will prob just set an ses code. get an o2 sim you just unplug the sensor(the plug is only about 6in fomr the sensor itself) and plug in the sim.

like firefighter said all you need it some extra pipe to make up for the shorter cat. but its hard to find 3 in pipe in stores. jegs.com sells some. as for the s-bend jegs sells u-bend pipes. all you have to do is cut it in the middle and flip one side up to make your u.

i would not reccomend getting rid of the cat all together. it is highly illegal with a hefty fine if you get caught. you also really wond gain much compared to a high flow cat.

if you have anyother questions shoot me an email or just post on here and ill get back to you asap.

oh yeah just outta curiosity, what cat back are you going to match up with it?

Magnaflow 3" LT1 catback which came with an s-pipe, 3.8 L, and is there anywhere I can go to and pray for 3" pipe? Or maybe I'll just do as much as I can and then take it in for the rest - thinking now bolt up the catback, hold up the cat to measure how much 3" i need, etc. I'll still need the 02 tho cuz of NJ emissions, im gonna take my chances about a code but need the sensor in place. I don't have a welder or anything so I doubt I can do that part. Thanks so far

With the carsound cat, you shouldn't have any ses lights, I didn't and I had mine for a year. It was the catco cat people had problems with. If you can find the 3'' pipe at parts stores go to an exhaust shop to get it, they will have it for sure.

an exhaust shop is probably the only place youll find 3".

as far as the ses light it seems everycar is different. mine threw a code with my carsound. so i just got the o2 sim fixed it right up.
