• I want to replace Magnaflow tips. Anyone do this?

In a few months, I would like to replace the Magnaflow tips with quite possibly the smoked Rumbler tips i have sitting in my trunk.

All i would need to do would be to buy some pipe (2.5 inch i think), cut off old tips as well as the hangers, measure the tip length and cut accordingly, re-weld hangers on new pipe and basically put it on...

Has anyone done that before? I never liked the big 3.5inch tips that came with the magnaflow. To me it looks better on camaros and mustangs... i need to fill the cut outs better. I really want quad tips though.

I'm about to swap my Slowmaster muffler for a Hooker, so while I'm at it I'm gonna go with the Hooker classic european quad tips as well. If you're looking for quad tips, take a look at those...They're a little pricey, but look pretty sweet IMO.

The only problem you are going to have is with the length of the Magnaflow tips. You are going to either have to bend new tailpipes and weld the new tips on them, or weld on an extension to your existing tailpipes, then weld the new tips on to the extension.
Be sure to post those Magnaflow tips on Ebay, you should be able to nab a few bucks off them.

Yeah, I need to basically cut off the magnaflow tips and add new pipe from there. I hate how the magnaflows are so damn long cause thats as much pipe as i am going to have to replace.

I want to put the rumbler tips on, but i think quad tips would look better if i can get them in smoked chrome...

This will be happening probably within 3 months or so.

I agree with you completely. I had similar tips on my 92 camaro and just thought it looked fine with the 3rd gen body style. But love quad tips on the 98.... and ESPECIALLY on the wider cutouts of a firebird like you're saying.

I don't think I've seen quad tips on a bird with out a Trans AM bumper cover, should be interesting.

Yeah it should look interesting... and FYI i dont like the trans am rear bumpers (or fronts for that matter) because it sticks out kinda funny. hehe

I will keep you guys posted.
