Has anyone else encountered excessive noise from their SLP CAI? I've got a 97 3.8 and since i installed my CAI i will get trouble codes for the engine running too lean. Everything is in place like it's supposed to be. Would cutting slots in the plastic underpinning help get air to the engine and fix this problem?

im not really sure what you mean because i dont have a SLP CAI..mine comes right from the hood..but if your engine is running too lean that means you already have too much air..you need more fuel..it sounds like maybe the CAI is supplying the extra air but your engine isnt giving the required extra fuel?..my ram air sounds something like this..

i wouldnt think the fuel increase would be enough to really tax the pump/filter that much..but possibly..it could be electrical too (MAF or o2 sensors)<b>12 SECOND DUAL STAGE DRY NITROUS POWERED 98 A4 V6 CAMARO<br /><a href=\"http://www.mysickcamaro.50megs.com\" target=\"_blank\">www.MySickCamaro.50megs.com</a><br />Best ET: 12.82@103<br />Best MPH: 104.7<br />Best 60\': 1.75 - Stock TC</b><br /> </font><blockquote><font size=\"1\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">quote:</font><hr /><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Originally posted by Shodown:<br /><strong>1DV6 runs 12\'s...enough said. </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size=\"2\" face=\"Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif\">

I would check your fuel filter, it could have been bad before and the PCM just noticed it when the engine got more air. it is a $6 part and it wouldn't hurt. but like he said it could also be your MAF.1996 Metalic Bule Camaro: no cat BORLA muffler 245-50-16 falken 502\'s descreened MAF 1pc driveshaft<br /><br /><br />soon to come: fixing that dagum Quarter Panel that i jacked up.<br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.geocities.com/heartland_heat_v6\" target=\"_blank\">Heartland Heat V6</a> <----CO-FOUNDER<br /><br /><a href=\"http://www.dahleinsurance.com\" target=\"_blank\">NEED INSURANCE?</a>
