• Concept Exhaust Setups? Opinions needed...

Well, I'm trying to keep my tone, (y87 RS sounds unique) just make it louder and gain more power. I also know that bigger is better but I don't want to stray to far away from my tone and earn that of a ricey hum... no offense to anyone...

So I'll concept my options, tell me your oppinions on them or what I should change... ALSO if you choose B, give me a name brand...

A)- 2.75" Z28 Take Off Exhaust, High Flow Cat or O2 Sim, Stock Muffler, 2.75" or 3" outlets w/ tips

B)- Name Brand Exhaust setup (Flowmaster / Borla, ect...), High Flow Cat or O2 Sim, Stock Muffler

C)- 3" Custom Exhaust, High Flow Cat or O2 Sim, Stock Muffler

    D) - Screw it, change the stock Muffler, it's WAY to restrictive... (Any Muffler's in mind that will give me relative exhaust tones?)

As far as a y87 exhaust being unique it sounds the sme as far as i can tell. but to give you my opinion out of your options i would definately go with option A as it will be fairly inexpensive, and has a rather meelow exhaust note. I wouldn't put your y87 muffler on the z28 exhaust however if i nuderstand that right, as the v8 muffler has a larger inlet and will not restrict power like the stock muffler

I think it would look good on a 4th gen camaro, but def not a firebird.

i have a rumbler. its loud, its deep, it rocks, however, with a lid and a ws6 muffler the note sounded more stock, but i got many many compliments on it when i got on the gas. however, when u get off the gas or up high in the rpm range it wil sound ricey. this is what you should do: get custom 3 inch piping to a ws6/z28 muffler for around town and for sound. wont drone, wont be obnoxious, and will still sound deep. also, with the 3 inch piping it will perform well. BUT, get an electric cut out so u can rip on some mustangs when u need to. you can trust me i am very picky about my exhaust sound. if i had to do it all over again i would do this plan. best of both worlds.

I think you should get bigger pipes keep the muffler if you like the sound and get a cutout installed right before the i-pipe bends up to go over axle. Can't go wrong. I figure the stock muffler isnt the best for flow but whenever you need the extra power just uncap your exhaust, even better get an electronic cutout and you can do it all from in the car. Money baby!

You should go with bigger pipe, a Z28 muffler, and possibly a high flow cat.

i'd say save your sound and money and get a cutout
