I'm buying a sweet thunder 18" chambered muffler. My question is where to mount it? I was planning on right after the cat before the axle, with straight 2.75 pipes after that. If anyone has this exhaust where did you put yours and do you have pics?

I wonder what would happen if you were to use it as a resinator lol.1999 Firebird Black
A4 3.08 gears
Mods: Carbon Fiber Whisper Lid, Raised Air Box, K&N Air Filter, Direct Hits Ignition, Flowmaster American Thunder 3\", 160 Degree Hypertech Thermostat, SLP Fan Switch, 3\" High Flow Cat
My car on Cardomain

you can most easily place one in the I pipe and then use the section of the I pipe you removed to construct fake-a-dual out the rear (make it split to both sides)
Or you can place 2 in the rear like a GMMG.
Either way, it should sound good.2002 5-spd NBM Camaro

I plan on doing it right after the CAT. How does it sound? I'll have it split into two pipes after the axle into 3 in pipe.\'94 Pontiac Firebird 3.4
MODS
Custom CAI, by pass cat,
soon to come
SLP CAI, sweet thunder exhaust, 1.25 lowering springs, 3 pt sub frame connectors, traction bar, port & polished heads & intake manifold, Headers, strut tower bar, ram air hood, SLP rims 18 in, tires? any suggestions? I've been thinking about mimmicking the GMMG (www.gmmginc.net/html/chamberedexhaust.html) with two sweet thunders as others have talked about, but I want to do it a little bit different than GMMG. I want to get a 3 inch I pipe and then the over-the-axle pipe. After the pipe goes over the axle, the pipe ys and each pipe has it's own muffler. Instead of one pipe curling around one side and the other into the other side like the GMMG, the two pipes will go into their respective mufflers on the same side and come out on the other side. They then will curl to the back, side by side, forming a two on the side exhaust coming out the back. (similar to some of the SSs) If you can't picture that, it would be like a normal cat-back, except there are two separate pipes that come off the over-axle pipe on the passenger side of the car and curl into two mufflers, which are in the same position as a normal catback muffler would be (perpendicular to the car), and come out on the driver side of the car and then curl to the back of the car. How about this idea?

if it were me, i'd have the shop fabricate some pipes so its exactly like the GMMG setup. it should sound the same as the two exiting out the driver side, and will look so much better IMO having the dual look as opposed to the single outlet look. i've been thinking about doing this myself actually. if you get this done, please post the total cost of the exhaust starting from the custom Y-pipe that goes into the mufflers. did you get the stainless mufflers or aluminum?94 Firebird - Red A4
http://members.cardomain.com/predatorbird

I think if you want the sweet thunder sound & the dual outs, the best option is going to be to just weld in the muffler into the I-pipe, then use a y-pipe after the axle to create dual outs2001 75th Anniversary V6 Pewter Firebird w/ Chrome Wheels, T-Tops, & Y87
Mods: Free Ram Air, !Silencer, Holley Filter, Full 3\" Hooker Catback, 3\" Cat
Best time: 15.095 at 90.00 MPH with a 2.127 60\'

I haven't bought anything yet; that was just an idea. If it's going to cost a buttload than I won't do it. How much would the labor be if they were to fabricate the pipes similar to the GMMG? I just thought the way I described it would be easier to do and I agree that the dual look is better.
Here's another question, would the sound be better using two mufflers or just one before the axle that ys out?
