  • Custom 3.5" Cold Air Induction, PICS ----->

    Gotta love the digital camera! Here's my not-yet-completed custom cold air intake. As of right now, it has the 4" rubber elbow from the throttle body to the 3.5" pipe, the 3.5" mid-section, and a 3.5" inletx5"x6" Green Performance Air Filter. Tuesday will bring the 3.5" 90* elbow to put the filter in the fenderwell for the colder air and the final addition will be a nice thick coat of ceramic coating on the inside/out to keep the heat out of the pipe. I would think the 3.5 mandrel bent piping, 4" elbow, fenderwell induction, and ceramic coating should ensure a LOT of cold air coming in. The total cost after it's all done will be: $150

    4" Rubber Elbow --------------> $20
    3.5" Exhaust Piping ----------> $15
    3.5" 90* Elbow ---------------> $25
    3.5" Inlet Green Air Filter --> $50
    Jet-Hot Ceramic Coating ------> $40

    I'm pretty sure that with the big 3.5" piping, the fenderwell cold air, and the ceramic coating to keep the heat out, it should better than the rest.

      looks good man but I made my own with 3 in piping and it made the car run like butt, back fired and dogged it out, I decided to go with the pros since they have engineers and stuff design these things and I assume they know more than myself.

        I'm not sure what would make it run like butt, maybe you forgot to plug the IAT sensor in or something but that only matters mostly for cold starts as it has to richen the fuel when the engine is cold or else it would idle badly. There really isn't any difference between the materials I'm using and that SLP uses, only that my piping is a single, larger mandrel bent pipe and will be ceramic coated instead of powdercoated. There is actually room for a 4" pipe in there but that would be overkill, I figured that I would match the size of the pipe to the size of the throttle body, usually a good way to tell.
