I have no other mods to my 96' 3.8L v6 camaro and I am just going to purchase a muffler. Do you think I am better off with the Dynomax Superturbo muffler or the 80 series Flowmaster?

I see that your a new member around here! Welcome to the board! This topic has been discussed ALOT around here. You can use the search feature, to look for all the info on this topic. But, in my opinion I would go for the Dynomax w/3in pipes and a catco highflow cat. Sounds the the cleanest through all RPMS. The Flowmaster with no doubt is a beast by itself, but it sounds like rice over 3,000 rpms. It's all in the drivers taist.My 1996 Camaro RS www.cardomain.com/id/mustangkiller311 \"Its out-dated\"
Mods=SLP CAI, 3.42/LSD, 180*, BMR StrutBrace,SLP Take-Off Shocks/Springs, Z28Swaybar, DynomaxSuperTurbo,3in pipes,Catco3in,3in Cutout ThrottleBody Spacer, SolidDriveShaft,NGKplugs, Taylor8mmWires,ZR1 rims, RS Spoiler,WhiteFacedGuages.
Stereo= Pioneer DEH-P8400MP, Custom Subthump enclosure, 2 BlouPunkt 12\'s, JL 500/1, Fosgate speakers, 1FaradCap.
NEW 1997 FireBird Formula WS6

How loud is the idle once the Superturbo (cat-back, and hi-flow cat) warms up? I like my FM D 40 but once it warms up-and at idle-its no louder than stock.
Also, what does the STD (SuperTurbo Dynomax ;) ) sound like when you ease on the gas (to about 2000-2500 rpms), how much louder is it than stock? I've heard sound clips of revving and wot.
The Delta sounds good from the outside but too hollow from the inside (since it is supposed to dampen the interior sound).
Just not sure whether I should stick with the FM 40 and go with CAI, whisper lid, high flow cat, etc, OR take the STD plunge.

Then you want Dynomax. I've also had both. MingisDew's explanation pretty much summed it up.99 Camaro Z28 A4
R.I.P. 00 Firebird 3.8
14.89 @ 90, 2.03 60\'

Nice Low Rumble - Dynomax (it won't be loud, but it'll be there)
Not too ricey - They all sound ricey, but Dynomax muffles it a bit more.
You don't care if it's not loud...Dynomax.
Looks like we have a winner!

i have the dynomax and love it. Dont let them fool you, it isn't really that quiet and makes enough sound where people look etc and when you get on it they definititely hear the good sound coming out of it ;) I researched the topic to death and have no regrets about getting the Super Turbo over the Flowmaster. The great rumble at about 1900rpm in my car rules! :cool:Sean
1999 Pontiac Firebird
Pewter 3800 V6 A4
1SB package, 15% window tint
Dynomax Super Turbo 2.5\" Cat-back w/ dual 3.5\" slash chrome tips
http://www.angelfire.com/fl3/sflynn/firebird.htm
-----------------------------------
Don\'t be fooled by the Firebird that I got...I\'m still Sean from tha block :)

I personally prefer the flowmaster sound, and I think it sound rather throaty throughout the rmp range,not ricey. You'll definately get a good rumble out of it, especially in the low end. I'd suggest hearing both for yourself and see what you like.\'95 3.4 metallic teal Camaro- t-boned by an F-250, sold and still runnin\' somewhere out there...

\'96 3.8 metallic teal camaro

...Lookin for black 6 speed Z28 or Trans Am...
