I took EVERYTHING from the rear of my cat and threw it away. (I had an 80 series) Then they welded a small turndown where my "S" pipe was. It's loud as HELL!! I love the way it sounds down low although it has the same raspy sound up high like damn near ALL of the aftermarket mufflers. I'll probobly change everything again when I get my Pacesetter headers though.

Flow masters sound good at idle and up to 3000 rpm but after that our small displacement 3.8's will sound ricey .

My old FM 40 delta was quiet, and sounded much like the B&B, though not as deep or gurgly at idle and low rpms. Both are quiet once warmed up, and if your standing outside of the vehicle, but the Delta was too silent when waiting at a light, while the B&B actually has a deep nice (though quiet) rumble to it.

ALL exhaust will get raspy up high. When I heard 12secv6s edelbrock on Loochy's video, it sounded ricey up high also. A friend of mine heard my old dynomax on the highway and said it sounded like a bumblebee when I hammered it. LOl, he didn't tell me that until AFTER I got my flowmaster.

at one point i had a flows 40 3" single in/out, with an i pipe off a z28, stock 2.25" s pipe.
i'm having it redone, this time with 3", from the cat, including the stock cat being opened up to 3" out. should be louder and meaner.

i thought it sounded good...
awesome at idle to 3k
ricey from 3-4k
LOUD from there on

I forget who said that the 3.8 has an identity problem (V8ish down low, I4ish up top) but that is pretty accurate. I mean we do have V6s...two more than four bangers but two short of the V8 so I think its natural to sound in between.

With that said, I have a 3.8 with a SLP CAI, 3" I-pipe and a Flowmaster 80. Down low and at idle it sounds mean...cruising around at low RPMs still makes me smile. Up above 3k and above, it doesn't sound like a Honda, it just losses the V8ish sound. The pitch gets higher...don't know if a high flow cat would help though.

That would be me...heck I'm going to put that in my sig! BTW, a high flow cat DEFINATELY signifies this. Sounds a LOT NASTIER (in a good way ) down low, but a tad "tinnier" up top. I'm happy mofo with the new mod tho! :D

Can you buy the flowmaster cat-back with 3" piping and 2.5 exiting the muffler? Also if anyone knows of a place I can find some tips 3"-4" rounded non slash give me a holla.

#17143 has the S pipe included so some how you have to go from a 2 1/4" cat outlet to a 3" pipe. You could chop off the end of the stock cat and do this or replace it. http://www.geocities.com/ttop34/CarP...r/DSC00031.jpg That pictures shows where I chopped off both ends to wrap the housing of the cat around a 3" pipe(after you click on the link you have to insert a space after the adress and hit enter for it to work).

#17143 goes from the S pipe back so you still have the most restrictive bends in the system at 2 1/4".

I ended up buying my tips from the local exhaust wholesaler. I found them by just asking for the phone number from a exhaust shop. Here it's where all of the shops get their pipe, mufflers and tips. You might see if your town has the same thing set up, they have a lot better prices and selection.

I've got about 4 or 5 digital files of what my Flowmaster sounds like. I get compliments all the time. All I have is the muffler, no cat-back, pipes, headers, nuthin'.

Holler at me: email, AIM, PM, etc. And I'll send them to you.

I think my Flow 80 sounds damn good, I've heard Toast's and its even better because of his more modified setup. I've heard a lot of different clips, the Flowmaster is very popular, you will not be disappointed if you get just a muffler as far as sound goes.

my exhaust clip

and yes i made it in neutral, so it crackles more up high than in normal driving

Yes, 3" I pipe and 2 1/2" pipes coming out of the muffler which can be welded to 3" tips easily.
