• Rumbler Review

first of all, yes it rumbles. by far the best sounding system sans headers i have ever heard on a 6. start up and idle are to die for.

highway driving- get it at 75 and keep ur foot barely on the pedal and it doesnt annoy at all. the sound barely penetrates the cabin if u get it right.

however there are a few things i need answered.

1. is it supposed to hang so low? has anyone bottomed it out before? i haven't and dont think i will, miami is pretty flat, but it DOES hang lower than any part of the car except maybe the front spoiler....and i do hit that on steep inclines/declines
2. the guy who did it didnt carry thru my y-pipe idea, saying i should wait until i get my headers. fair enough. however, he also said the 3 inch s pipe was overkill so he welded it to the stock 2.25 inch s pipe. i dont like the idea, so im going to take it somehwere else and get a 2.5 inch s-pipe and i figure that should be perfect for me right now, as my only mods *so far* are this and my lid/filter good idea? matt? anyone with the rumbler?

overall i like the system. i dont feel too much sotp diff, but that could be for 2 reasons.
1. the 2.25 inch stock s-pipe
2. i only hit it so far from about a 70 roll where our cars are pretty much pooped out anyway. i did notice that i got up to a buck 5 or so a bit faster. i cant wait to hit it from a dig or 1st gear 25 mph punch. THEN i can give you guys better butt dyno results.

dont get it if u dont like loud. i like, no love the car at low rpm's i def need headers because in a neutral rev it does get ricey up top, but compared to anything else i have heard its thousands of times better in that department.

now if only i had my headers and y......

I have headers through a high flow cat and B&B Triflow....no rice on the streets but in neutral it sounds ricey...its just the difference in load

If you check my cardomain page 9 u will see a pic of how low it hung on my car. As i have posted before I took it off and got a Magnaflow instead because the rumbler was just so loud... It was awesome at idle tho... but i didnt want to keep waking everyone up. I just couldnt stand the interior noise while taking off from a stop or just pushing the gas slightly) ... with the magnaflow i dont need my radio up on 20-22 when i normally listen to it at 12-15. lol

Glad you're liking it! If you took off your tunnelbrace, put it back on, and be sure there isn't any vibrations from metal-on-metal contact. I did that when mine had clearance issues, and now I have a ton!

nope i still have my brace on, no metal-metal contact it was a really good install. yes it is pretty loud going from a stop. i like it right now. and i figure i will get used to it. as i get older i might change it years from now (17 now so all the noise doesnt bother me lol ;) ) but the main reason i went with it was for the flow and performance. matt, i still think i needa 2.5 inch s-pipe at least. how am i hurting or helping the system the way i have it now and the way i want to have it?

I have the Rumbler and CATCO and I don't have clearance problems. I really think that depends on the person that installs it. The guy that installed mine was concerned about clearance, but then he did something and it isn't lower than the stock exhaust was (besides for the pipe being a bigger diameter). I don't know what the "something" was.

2. however, he also said the 3 inch s pipe was overkill so he welded it to the stock 2.25 inch s pipe.
I got the 3" S pipe from SLP as recommened by Texas Speed. I would defintely go with a 3" S pipe. Doesn't make sense to add a bottleneck to your flow if you don't need to.

When I first put on the Rumbler I was shocked at how loud it was but it quickly grew on me. I love the Rumbler. Setting off car alarms brings a smile to my face (Although that only happens in the parking garage at work since the sound reverberates in the confined area.)

When I first got it, it did sound ricey up high but that sound has gotten a lower pitch in the several weeks I have had it. Probably due to the new cat burning in. I received a compliment on the exhaust sound over the weekend, guy couldn't believe it was a 6 (he heard it at WOT and idle).

Your car must be sound proofed better than my car or something. On the interstate the sound gets annoying after a couple hundred miles. Although I took a trip the day after I put it on. Don't know what it sounds like now on a long trip now.

i love it now. and have gotten a compliment on it already as well

Yah I had the Rumbler put on in March with a car sound cat and it does hang low but never bottomed out yet. Also love how it sounds at idle. All I need to do now is get an aftermarket y pipe and some headers and it should be sounding pretty sweet.

exactly. i cant wiat to get headers and y.... its gunna be awesome

btw anyone who is really considering the exhaust, i am getting some absolutely AMAZING gas mileage numbers right now. i've only used 3/8ths of a tank and i've gone 130 miles

i used to get about 200 even before i was limping to a gas station. without this exhaust i would prob need to go fill up again within a few days...this is great :D

Glad you guys are enjoying it so far! It will hand a bit lower due to the bigger intermediate pipes and the over the axle S pipe. There is a good bit of adjustability built into the system, and yours might just need a bit of tweaking to get a couple more inches.

If you look at both systems, the answer s clear without even running them both. The Rumbler has an 18" bullet muffler incorporated to kill a ton of the rasp. The LM simply has a resonator, an empty chamber which just makes things louder/raspier. Other than that, they are ver similar! Easy choice IMO.

yeah, the rumbler sounds much better imho. the LM is ok but gets more rasp than i find acceptable. granted when not under load the rumbler has its fair share of rasp but under load i havnt heard any in my friends camaro. it really is a killer exhaust. i am opting for a T/A take off and a qtec cutout but i just dont want a loud exhaust all the time ;)
