  • slp cai question

I just put the slp cai in my 3.4L camaro today.

    WHAT A PITA!!!!!!!

The plastic block-off panel was just adding to the problem so we tried to install it without it and thats the way it sits in my car now.

    My questions are...

Is it alright to drive without that plastic block off panel or should i install it??

Did anyone else have trouble getting this to fit correctly??

It seems like the filters were too big or something.

I did feel a little gain in power, now all i need is a new cat and i'm set.

Well, looks like your 3.4 cold air is pretty much the same as my 3.8 so here is some insight
Yes, first time installing is definately a pain in the *** !!!!
The black plastic piece is there to seal off the heated air in the engine bay and only allow cold outside air to enter the engine, can you run like this, sure.
Will it be as effective, well, not 100%
As for it fitting, well on the 3.8 it was a pain, but eventually it worked
Filters for me were fine but again, mine is a 3.8.
The 3.4 and 3.8 kit look pretty much the same

The CAI fits, it just takes some work. I had to take the 3 radiator bolts off and move that back an inch or so. This allows room for the pipes to get as low as they should be. I set the plastic piece in place before running the pipes through. Then I moved the radiator back into place once it was all set. After that I put the air filters in from underneath(after removing the panel). Mine fits perfect, but it took some time.
