  • diff idea on maf screen

ok im bored at work and just thought of somthing, if you read the post in gen tech on port and polish free, and read the how to thingy, i was thinking if you only put a piece of the screen over the small opening that leads into the maf sensor and the rest left open.

now i realize there probobly isnt much power to be seen and you would have to make sure it was real secure but its just a thought

p.s. i tried and took out my screen and wot was fine but idle was weird and stumbled at take off

IMHO leave it in or take it out.. dont do something like that..

if that littel screen were to come off it would go strait down your intake..

the maf screen protects your motor from large objects accidently getting sucked in as well as protects the maf..

The only legitimate reason on why you have a MAF screen in there is to straighten out your AIRFLOW or in other words a restriction. People sometimes are forgetting the fact that before any large objects will "accidentally" sucked into your engine it has to go through the AIR FILTER, unless you're driving around without it. ;)

Probably not good without tuning. You'd be upsetting the balance between the amount of air that goes through the maf and the amount that bypasses it. In essence you'd be under-reporting air, maybe running lean.
