I went to a local shop to see how much it would cost to have the loudmouth put in. The guy said that i diddnt need a new cat because the stock one is one of the best ones you can get????? Will getting a new cat make my exhaust louder or not?

You'll hear this alot from exhaust guys that don't want to mess with the cat. There's a lot of EPA regulations and BS that go along with a catalytic converter, so a lot of shops try to avoid working on them. At least, that's what I've found. Try another shop. A high flow cat is going to flow better than the stock cat.

black stripes: The stock cat SUCKS. There. I said it. The guy at shop was lying.

Not only will a high-flow cat improve hp/torque, but it will also deepen the exaust sound.

Catco is a good brand; Random Technologies is excellent too. Shop around for a good price on one, and find a shop that'll install one (or get a couple of friends and do it yourself).

BTW, try and find a cat that matches the Loudmouths' size (3 inches). Guarantee you'll have one of the loudest cars here

        I wouldn't do it.

Scott had a high flow cat on his loudmouth setup and he said it sounded repulsive.

I kept the stock cat and it sounds great... not to mention there is very little back pressure already, hurting low end. Going to a 3" cat would just amplify that.

Unless you are running some kind of poweradder I would just save the cash.
