Im getting awfully tired of replacing my catalytic converter every 40K miles b/c the crap comes loose and its not the engine b/c according to autotap i'm running at stoichiometric air/fuel, timing is not retarded, and my oxy sensors are reading on the dot. Its the same thing I had before with the crap in the cat coming loose and rattling. But I know that something has to be there to interfere with the exhaust flow to raise the temp to heat up the oxy sensors to normal temps so that they run right so im not gonna straight pipe it and I dont think a straight through bullet muffler is gonna heat up anything b/c its straight through! Dont want a normal muffler there either for clearance reasons and too much backpressure. Ideas??

What year is your F-Body? If you have 4-wire O2 sensors, you won't need to worry about the O2 sensors heating up to an optimal range because the 4-wire O2s have heaters built into them for that reason. This being the case, I think that the bullet muffler will be your best bet.- Josh
If you have any questions or need installation pics/help, e-mail me: Viper98885@aol.com
\'93 Camaro Hardtop
\'01 Lincoln LS8 Sport
\'00 Yamaha YZF-R6
Full Throttle Performance

Well dude, you have to consider a few things here. The higher flowing the cat the less dense the honeycomb is going to be. I think the aftermarket cats are going to have less of a life than a stock cat. Now I look at what your reading and you say you have to change your cat every 40k miles and your getting tired of it. From what I see a lot of people's stock cats don't last that much longer than 50k before they start rattling and breaking apart. So 40k sounds like thats about the life of an aftermarket cat. I don't necessarily think that a more expensive cat like random tech's cats are going to be any more durable over a carsound. You have to consider these cats are flowing over 200cfms more than stock. I through out my box on my carsound, but don't they have a warranty of some kind on their products?
