WHATS THE BEST EXHAUST SYSTEM FO A98 3.8 FIREBIRD UNDER 400.00 DOLLARS

• #2
make your own, I have a flowmaster 80 it was like 60 bucks or something, and you can get a high flow car for 50 bucks, and i can get 3" I-pipe and axle pipe for 43.00 at advanced auto parts and you also need as s-pipe. Someone help me out on that one what would you say 20 bucks. and just have the exhausgt shop make your exhaust pipe from your muffler, and get you a set of nice tips, that would deff. be under 500.00.

That is if you wanted to make your own.
That's my two copper lincolns

dynomax for low rumble
flowmaster if you just want something loud
edelbrock - overal good sound (have not heard personally)
borla - too expensive for ya
magnaflow - eh...it's iffy, I'm not a fan of it

there's your choices. There are more but these are the only ones coming to my head right now.

I would add Ravin to that list. Great all around sound.

I got a flowmaster and it isnt as near as loud as i thought it would be. Others have also posted about it being to quiet. Mine sounds pretty good, nice deep tone until i hit about 3000rpm. It never really gets ricey either. Dynomax is also good. Plus ive heard that ravin sounds pretty good. Also, I would deff recommend getting the 3in pipes.

Hey magic do you happen to have a part number for the i-pipe and axle pipe at advanced auto parts I can't seem to find it. $43.00 is an amazing price. My friend john said that it will probably rust out but for 43.00.

yea but I have no opinion on the sound...I've never heard it. So I figured it'd be best to leave it out

I recommend ravin. It shows the true colors of the 3.8.

Hey Ted, I just went in and asked them if they sell exhaust pipe for a 99 Firebird, and the guy pulled out his little book and started flipping through it. When we found the firebired it was for the TA and it was 3" from the cat back. The pipes commin gout of the muffler were like 135-145 dollars, I was like WTF. He said that they were all chrome. So just have the muffler shop make you some pipe to come out of the muffler and buy some nice tips. Hope that helps!!!
