stock lid -> high-flow lid

i want to order one of the ram air kits for my car but dont want to by one of the 150 dollar lids and i heard people on here no how to make their stock lid less retrictive. anyone no of a tutorial or can offer some help? thanks a bunch.

Personally I'd try to find a used aftermarket lid. Yeah 150 is sorta steep. But you can get one used reasonable and it'll not only give you good power gains but clean up under the hood a bit.

The nice thing about the aftermarket lids is the extension that allows you to remove that big old baffle and the hole for the IAT sensor.

removing the baffle does give you a nice sound and more power though.
But like I said...you could probably find someone selling an aftermarket lid for 70 bucks. I think its definatley worth that. Hell I payed full price for mine and dont regret it at all.

I got my Whisper Lid, mint condition for $80 on this list. It wasn't worth the trouble shaving the stock lid. Plus you get to remove the air silencer everyone says.

Theirs definatley more room in the lid for air to flow than my stock lid. WAY more room.

you can do the pvc baffle elimitator if you want to get rid if that piece of **** for like 1 dollar. just get a 3" pvc cupling and replace the baffle with that (oh and you also need replacement hose clamps). i doesnt look to bad and you get that more powerful sound from your engine at about 2500+ rpms.

You get a nice round hole going to your TB instead of an oval which will give you much better airflow. Ask anyone in aerodynamics if you don't believe me.

I tried the pvc thing. It worked OK. You just need to make sure the piece is long enough and you can really clamp down on it.

On mine, the pvc slipped out a little on one end and my car started to stall. I was stunned, thinking I had some bad gas. But found the issue after I popped the hood.
