  • how should I make my new Borla sound?

Me and a friend installed it in 1 hour, the hardest part was making sure it didnt rattle against the heat shield and geting the tips straight(although they still are a little crocked) I used the plate with the smallest hole and it sounds cool at idel and low speeds but when pushed it pickes up a turbo 4 banger raspy wine, which plate should I switch to? I used this one because it allowed both exits to work and sent most everything through the muffiler.

I only have one rattle because we had to use a different clamp to conect the reducer pipe to the stock S pipe, the one provided wouldnt tighten enough, so it ocasionaly hits the black bar thing that goes under and suports it, I will fix that the next nice day.

other then me having to get use to the new sound I scared a black TA owner when I came around a turn, he probibly though it was a Geo Metro
    :D

Anyhow, my driving is done, everything has iced over and my driveway is a skating rink so testing is done for the day.

Thanks for all the advice, Firebirdv6.com is the best.

This is probably not the cheapest alternative but I would start with a high flow cat. I got mine for $50 shipped to my door new from CATCO. It helps. Headers too, they deepen the sound. As for plates, I have the one with the smallest hole. It gives the best sound in my opinion. I had the open before and liked it but with the headers and cat, IT TOO FRIGGIN LOUD! :D To get the cleanest sound use the full block of plate, BUT..... Why would you want to do that. You went through the trouble to buy one of the best exhaust systems and install it and you're gonna cap it up?? Hell naw! Might as well get a blowmaster. :D Experiment with the different plates. That is the cool thing about the Borla exhaust. I'm sure you'll find one you like. Happy hunting.

It sounds like you have the same plate in as I do, my neighbors are going to kill me the next time I come home from work 1am :D

I can only see useing the block off plate for inspection so I dont fail, I plan on experimenting with the open one come warm weather.

I'm running mine straight open with no plates. I love the sound, especially when driving through tunnels and under passes. I have a cai, and catco high flow cat as well. I never heard mine other than being open. I thought about playing with it a little too in the spring when it gets nice out. Have fun with it.

Kind of expensive for a cutout don't you agree?
