Hey I have a crane comp cam with a flow tech muffler my cat was gutted, when the bottem half of my engine died the coolent went through the stock exhaust and clogged the stock cat, so he told me he would save me money and gut my cat, which will also increase horsepower... is this true it doesnt seem like my horsepower incresed, the car sounds really raspy when i rev it over 3000 rpms is it because i need a cat, will that make the exhaust sound a little deeper?? really need help with this thanks

sometimes i have heard when people do this that there are rattles from the cat, i would suggest either getting a pipe welded in place of the cat or a catco cat. also since you have a freer flowing exhaust you will get a different sound from your car. sometimes you just hear more rasp from it because its YOUR car and you know how it should sound. v6 camaro's do get some rasp at the top end no matter what if you change your exhaust.
