Oh heck no! They are two totally different mufflers with different sounds between them. The dynomax had this wimpy hondaish sound addmiting from it while the ravin is loud, crude, and in your face with the sound. I had my friend drive my car for me around in the parking lot just to hear what it sounds like, man i was really impresed. Not bashing the dynomax as i know they make a fine product but it just did not suit my car well. The ravin does and so far have more
than from people who have heard my car in person.

The sound file sounds nothing like a dynomax. The video with the silver RS sounded like it was revved to about 2500.....what I wanted to hear is the 3500-5600 mean roar that the dynomax clearly presents...Was he trying to avoid the raspiness and the high pitch in the upper RPMs???

When the car is not under load, the higher RPM exhaust sound of my Ravin isn't as impressive as it is in the lower range... and since I was not under load, I chose not to rev that high. In the other clip where I launch and floor it, you can hear(not the greatest quality mic) it sounds better under load.
Anyways, i'm not getting into this fight. I like my Ravin which is all that matters to me, so I posted it for point of research. If my z-55 series ever bites it I will get the deeper z-33 because I want more. But if it lives forever i'd be a happy camper.

Hey it's cool. I'm not bashing you for getting a Ravin, I would love to hear it when it breaks in later...I am open minded about car stuff. Your car should be all about what u like. I think it would be kinda pointless if everyone had the same exact setups on the same exact car. If you enjoy it, then u enjoy it. Is the z-33 deeper tho? How much does a z-33 muffler cost?

How weird, mine does not have that raspy sound, I wonder what the difference is? Mine is just a rear section, stock piping from the Ravin to the engine. What tips do you have? Mine are 3-1/2 x 18" slash cut. Mine sounds more like RavenP's system. I'll try and get a sound clip of mine this week.

I think there's only one guy on this board with the z-33, and he told me it really rumbles. I was playing it conservative when i bought it. I made the mistake of trusting the idiot at Midas who doesn't know my car that the z-33 would sound crappy at high rpm's.
After doing some research since then, and talking to some people...i've decided my next muffler will be a z-33 Ravin. This will come after my 3" setup at which time i'm expecting a sweet sound six to be sure
But like I said, I really like my car's sound. It growls in regular city driving and sounds tight in the high rpm band, particularly under load.
I've not heard any other setup's on the v6's yet, so I have nothing to compare to. :(
I wish I wasnt' so far away so i could meet some of you guys and see your cars.

Love it man! Dude you crap me up! "Vocal duet by Ravin Z-55 and the mighty 3800 chorus" love it man, sounds good.
Hank....it sounds good except for when you let off the throttle, whatever that rasp is has to go. Mine doesn't do that, I think something must be loose. Yours does that too Toast. I wonder what it is? Makes it sound flimsy, I hope you figure it out, other than that they both sound pretty good.

I would be interested in hearing clips of other Ravin Z-55 installations on 99-02 models. I'm beginning to believe the sound we get may vary depending on model year due to subtle running changes in intake, exhaust & engine design. I did notice a change in exhaust sound after making all my intake mods (louder). Toast's car appears to have similar mods to mine and I'm not surprised the WOT acceleration clips sound close. Still looking for ways to improve the sound, besides removing the Ravin :)

If you guys go to MIDAS ask about thier Rhino Perf. Muffler, thats what i have and its LOUD, Noticable, and sounds very deep, even when i hit high rpms the sound isnt raspy at all. if there was such a sound called a v7, in between v6 and v8, my exhaust would be in the v7 category! Its sounds really good, i hope to soon have a audio clip, could anyone tell me how to do this! ;)

Several ways to create an audio clip, depends on what you have to work with. Some folks use a mini cd recorder, make the clip and upload the sound file to their website. For other's (like myself) use a camcorder and replay the audio portion of the tape to the audio input on the computers audio card. After the sound file is created and saved, upload to your website :) Piece o' cake I'll tell you what!
