• 3" exhaust installed!!

Just had my setup upgraded from the 2.25" to 3" all the way through the cat. I did the U-bend trick for the S-pipe and worked great according yo my mechanic.

Sounds pretty sweet, went with the 3" dynomax pipes from Advance, 3in/out Catco Cat, my SLP rear section and a 3" S-pipe. So far I like it a lot, deep down low and sounds like a tuned V6 in the higher RPMs.

I would reccomend to anyone looking for great sound and looks and not much resonance.

I lost no low end torque, if anything, I gained all over the powerband, the trottle response is a ton better than before.

Cool, I hope to be going with a 2.75" I-pipe w/3" S-pipe (and 2002 manifolds which started me goin on it).

Cool I have the U shaped pipe and am going to get it welded soon. But what was the part# for that Cat and were did you get it. What did you do with that O2 senser?

you lost low-end torque. it's innevitable and unavoidable. i know sometimes the sound "compensates" for the lack of backpressure and thus, lack of torque, but i promise you that any time you lose backpressure (meaning bigger pipes, more free flowing muffler/cat, or even headers) you'll lose torque but gain a few hp. that's just the way it goes. either way, glad you got the new system, hope ya like it!

I may have lost a few ft-lbs, but I couldn't notice it and I could definatly feel a SOTP gain. I'll see what gains come at the track.

The part # on the Cat was CTO6007 from Summit, it was about $52+shipping

PLEASE let me know about the difference at the track. I'm just about to install a 3" Dynomax exhaust from the Y-back but I'm thinking it might be too big for my 3.4 I'll appreciate any feedback about goin' to 3" or if 2.5" would be better. Track or dyno results that will back up what you're saying will be more than welcome.

...or maybe a stock exhaust from a 2001 SS?

I'm no expert on the 3.4, but I'd guess that any torque you'd lose going with the 3" setup could be picked back up and more with a high stall torque converter!

With your 3.73's and the converter you'd have kick *** takeoffs, and the intake and free flowing exhaust would give you nice top end.

That's just an educated guess though. You could play it safe with 2.75, but where's the fun in that...

I too did the U-bend deal and it worked great too! Mechanic said it was probably easier than using the two 45º since the U-bend pipe had enough lenght on it to adjust with.

I lost my deep sounding exhaust by going to the 3" cat and S-pipe, though. I had an LS1 Borla hooked to the stock cat & S-pipe so I had good velocity from the S-pipe into a larger volume pipe which had a GREAT deep sound unlike any other V6 I've ever heard. Now with the 3" cat and S-pipe, I get that horrible raspy noise in the upper RPM range. The RPM's fly a little faster but sounds a lot worse than before. :( Luckily, I have that electric Borla valve so I can close it at any moment I don't want the rasp! ;) :D

yeah, u lost some torque, but made up for it w/ hp. maybe u gained a few hp all over the powerband, but I don't see how. it could be the torque converter making up for the loss of torque in the low end by stalling higher, therefore making it feel like u didn't lose anything.

The torque converter idea is a good idea, but I've got a stick.
