  • Homemade CAI, anyone use this? Thoughts

I've got a 97 Firebird with a 3" cat & 3" Borla system. Intake is still stock except for a K&N filter. I think she's choking because of the crimp between the radiator & abs. I went to Home Depot & Lowe's looking for stuff to piece something together but everything they have is crap.

This however looks like it would work great.

It's kinda ricey, and the spiral flow is a stupid gimmick, but I think it's better than hacking and sawing a bunch of plumbing junk together. The front of the throttle body is 3.75 so I can just clamp the 4" one on there and get a 4" K&N cone filter for the other end. I think that would be a lot cleaner and nicer looking than PVC under the hood. Summit has them for $40-50 or so.

Thoughts or experience? Anyone know of anything similar but better?

I made my own with a 90* rubber bend and mandrel bent pipe. Check my cardomain site for pics. I am going to make a sheetmetal box to go around the filter to seal it off from the engine compartment. My filter sits right on the hole in the fenderwell. Picture looks like it is higher up but it isn't.
