  • header install(what needs to be welded)

ok guys a good buddy of mines dad is willing to help me install my headers, he is a really good mechanic and even went overseas mechanicing, he says we can do my headers and i would have to come over REALLY early so we could finish in a day! my question is some thing need to be welded and he doesnt have a welding machine etc etc. what do i need to get pre welded before putting these on, because if we can get them on i can drive it open headers to welding shop to get other misc. stuff welded, but what needs to be welded to get them installed!! basically we will put them on at his house, and ill have to drive to exhaust shop. is there certain things i can get welded before putting them on and is the y pipe accesible after putting them on etc et, without putting the car or welder etc in a bind! thanks chet

pacesetters? I am installing mine on friday. Let me know what bolts you have a hard time with. I am a little worried about snapping them in the head. As for my ypipe, I bought some used headers so I have the 2 piece ypipe that I am going to weld together.

will it be possible to either
A:get it welded at shop after we put headers on
B: put the headers on with the y pipe welded?

          also there is 4 pieces:
          2 headers
          1 y pipe
          1 small U bend pipe

where does the U bend pipe go and i assume this need to be welded also

I got mine welded after I installed the headers. Just be careful driving around cops with open y-pipe.

well I got the ypipe, heat shields, and spark plugs off. The manifold bolts I soaked in penetrating oil for the night. Off the manifolds come tomorrow and the headers go in.
