  • Could a clogged cat cause starting problems?

for the past 4 months now i've had a myterious starting problem that i can seem to pinpoint. when i try to start the car it usually takes almost 10 sec and just before it starts it sometimes backfires out the exhaust. i've replaced my alternator, starter, plug wires, and computer. my battery and fuel pressure checked out to be fine.

i've had a catco on my car for about 2 years and i know they're not the best cats. i've been thinking about getting a 3'' car sound, but could that solve any of my starting problems? i plan on re-doing my exhaust anyway over the summer w/ the rumbler system, but i need to get it starting right first. could the cat be the problem?
