Aftermarket Lid...

I have a 01 Camaro.
I am under the impression that the only thing an aftermarket lid does it get rid of the air silencers in front of the TB. If thats the case, cant you just fabricate a piece that makes a straight connection from the stock lid to the TB and have the same exact product? Or is the lid in any way bigger/smoother/better flowing and the stock lid?

For me i ran worst times with a whisper lid all i did was cut out all the baffles in the top of the lid. And then where the Air silencer was take a 3" peice of PVC pipeing that was already made the same lenght as the air silencer and put it in its place. I ran my 14.34 without a whisper lid. I personally dont think i will ever waste my money on one i could use that money on a more useful mod.

The whisper lid is also taller and is completely round pipe wise, it doesn't squish into the oval like the stock piece.

the same day i ran 14.92 with a whisper lid, i ran 15.29 with the stock set.
