• Is it possible to install my own muffler using Clamps???

I was going to buy that Flowmaster 40 or some other muffler  , but can't decide. And being the cheap bastard I am ;) , I don't want to pay to have it installed if I don't have to. Can't I just take a hacksaw and cut off the old muffler, slip fit on the new one, clamp it and clamp on some tips ? I know welds are better, and clamps might leak, but again, I'm a cheap redneck :D . I have always wondered, can I install my own cat-back I-pipes and over axle pipe with a larger 2.5/2.75/3" pipes using only clamps? This would be really expensive at shops. How much does larger pipes cost? Sorry for all the questions .

if its a bolt on system, yes. i installed my borla catback with a friend..

if it's not a bolt on, don't use flanges

Just like mickey said if its a bolt on kit like a borla its ok. If its not, like a flow, spend the $50 to get it welded up. I used clamps on my flow before I got it welded. Nothing kills you rep better then your muffler falling off and draging behind you. I would know. Just get it welded. It changed my sound too. Gave it a deeper rumble through all of the RPM band.
