Is the Fast Toys ram air kit a good mod that will give me a noticeable performance increase? And is it the same basic thing as the SLP CAI? If not, which would be a better mod?

it helped me on top-end acceleration...mostly highway passing. Throttle felt a little more touchy...but anything under 55MPH and you're not going to feel anything. IF you do a lot of highway driving/racing, go for it. Get it used tho. I paid $100 and the guy helped me install it as well...great bargain.
Was it difficult to install? Do I have to cut my air box or anything?

go to that link it's the exact directions on how to install it. It was rather simple. It took me over an hour, but then again...I stopped to eat lunch since it was 95 frickin degrees. All you do is cut out portions of the bottom of the airbox so it can fit and then you screw it in at the bottom. If you can lift the front of your car a bit the job is a lot easier
Sweet, thanx, I'll be getting it soon since I just now got my flowmaster installed!
Thanks,
Eric

The SLP "Cold Air" kit is not the same as the Fast Toys "Ram Air Kit" (FTRA). The FTRA is a true ram air kit which directly routes high speed air into a sealed air box. The FTRA captures this air right off the lower air deflector which is a high pressure spot on the vehicle. The FTRA also includes a block off plate to disable the kit for bad weather, a removable front rubber seal, mounting hardware and detailed instructions.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me directly.
BTW: We do sell a kit to upgrade an SLP cold air kit to be a ram air kit!

FTRA + Whisper Lid = good sound w/ stock exhaust, so I can only imagine your Flowmaster will only add to the mix. FTRA was semi-easy to install. Couple of tough spots, but nothing impossible. From what I've been told, you'd need some serious flooding for the block off plate to be necessary. Having been driving in New England weather since February, I've driven it all w/out the plate, with no issues.
FTRA are way overpriced! I got mine used and that is the only way I would have got a hold of one. If you can find one used go for it. It is a great mod and will help on your top end quite a bit. I installed it with out instructions so it shouldn't be too hard to figure it out. It is a lot better than the SLP CAI because it has a metal scoop that stretches all the way down to the scratch gaurd. You can now convert your SLP CAI into a FTRA with a $40 kit off the fasttoys web page. I'm not too sure on the price but it's probably worth the money. I haven't taken my car to the track in a while and since I got the FTRA but I can tell you it is a worthy mod if you find a good deal like $100 shipped or so. Goodluck.
