Ready to complete my exhaust system

I've got some cash laying around and I think I'm ready to get the rest of my exhaust system upgraded. I already have an edelbrock 3" catback installed, but I didn't really notice any power gains from it (plus lower gas mileage). So I will need to choose a high-flow cat and some piping. From what I've read on this board the $50 Catco on Summit is the best for the money. I've also heard some people like the Carsound better. What would you recommend. I'm leaning towards the Catco. Where can I get the rest of the piping? Can I just go to the muffler shop and tell them to put in 3" piping all the way through or what? I'm not sure about getting headers because I might be purchasing a turbo kit eventually.

DO NOT GET CACTO! [img]graemlins/thumbsdown.gif[/img] The SES light will haunt you.

Spend the Extra Money for a Carsound Converter. I have one on my bird for the past 14 months...NO SES LIGHT.

You would have to spend the extra money for an O2 sim if you got Cacto. [img]graemlins/thumbsdown.gif[/img]

Plus, with the V6's I have heard clips of Loudmouth.

One had Loumouth with Cacto. One had Loudmouth with Carsound.

The One with Cacto sounded like **** over 2,500 Rpms. The One with Carsound sounded a little raspy over 4,000 Rpms.

You decide.

My 02 sim took care of the SES light with the catco converter. But, you can get carsound converters off ebay for around 50 bucks also. ;)

Well maybe I'll go with Carsound then if I'm gonna need an O2 sim with the Catco. Anyone else have any input on this?

And what about the remaining piping? I figured I'll just go 3" all the way through. Where can I get it? Or can I simply ask them at the shop to put 3" piping in all the way through? Thanks

I've had my catco for a little over a month and about 1,000 miles and have had no SES light or high end rasp. But I also have a dynomax muffler which would help that high rpm rasp.

Catco cats are generally known to give ya the ole SES light problem...but IMO carsound is the best, you cant beat the price. They flow more than catco I believe too, almost as much as random tech cats do.

check out my sig. i have a catco with o2 sim, no problems no ses light.

and if you want complete exhaust.. you forgot about headers

I think I'm gonna wait on the headers for now because I don't know if there will be issues with adding a turbo kit down the line.

So I guess all I need is the I-pipe and S-pipe, correct?

Isn't the SES Light only for 98+ camaro's...something to do with the year of the car.
