    Hints?...heh wear a welders mask...
Practice on something that you dont care about until you've got it down pretty well.
    Then go slow and steady

wear leather gloves and long sleeves. any exposed skin will get a sunburn from the weld flash.

practice welding two blocks or something first
        1. try making a good even long bead
        2. now try welding them together (make a tack weld on one side (two small beads) then if one raised a little hit it down so its flush with the other. now zig-zag across the two blocks remember you want to make them one)
        2. try on other side
        3 try on piping
        good luck

and then tape then down. burns like a biotch when the flak fall into those gloves or in sleeves and just sizzles your flesh since you cant get it out quick enough.

Burning flesh does not smell good.

But back on topic, what kind of welding are you doing? Mig, Tig, Flux-core or Arc? I assume Flux or mig.
