• Just got a cutout put on my 3.4

It sounds really good. I don't find it annoying at all. The downside is, that as soon as I uncapped it, I could feel, a big loss of power. Yesterday I was going 70mph with the cruise on and the tach stayed at 2100, but with it uncapped, it is at 2500. Oh well though. I wanted it for the sound anyway, and when I want the power back, I'll just put the cap back on
I'll try to get sound clips of it if anyone would like to hear it.

wtf? a cutout will not change your cruising rpms. are you sure this was happening?

Yep, it was at 2500. I didn't think it should change it either. I'll try it again later though just to make sure.

changing exhaust set-up has zero to do w/the cruising RPM's, doing any mod besides drivetrain has nothing to do with cruising RPM's, the only thing that will change that are gear changes in the rear end or tranny...

hmmm, and the cutout saga goes on...

personally i don't like the sound; it's quite ricey about 3k rpms. to each his own on that one.

regardless, a power loss is present.

and don't waste $60 on a cutout to get installed, it just isn't worth it i don't think.

you need to remember that many people have said the 3.4L sounds better than the 3.8L

I would not use how one thing sounds on a 3.4L to judge how it will sound on a 3.8L

Its like hearing a muffler on a v8, putting it on your six, and being surprised if it doesn't sound nearly as good (esp in the case of something like bullets).

We will see about a cutout when 12sec gets done with his dyno.

Well, I got going 70mph again, and it was back at 2100 on the tach. I'm guessing that when I did it earlier today, it just didn't shift yet.

Uhm...

I noticed a nice GAIN with my cutout on my 3.4L.

I raced a friend who I race like everyday. before the cutout, we were even at 80 with him pulling VERY slowly.

With coutout, I have 1.5-2 cars on him at 80 and still pulling.

This happened more than once, on more than 3 days. From a Roll and a dig.

So you tell me my cutout doesnt make more power, and I will laugh in your face.
