I pretty sure I have a clogged cat. Replaced ICM, Plugs, Wires, and Coils. Still having bad problems. I can't rev above 3000 rpm when driving or above 3500 in netural. There is a odd hissing and rattling sound coming from the exhaust. Could this be the problem? What is the easiest way to remove the cat?
Thanks
Got a sawzall? If not, rent one from home depot and have fun!
Or, you can buy a cat from summitt racing, or get a carsound cat (I recommend a carsound cat), and bring it to a muffler shop. They normally charge $40-$80 to cut the old one out and weld the new one in.
Should unbolt from the collector and intermediate pipe flanges, although depending on how old the car if you can get it off without twisting off a bolt.
I had the same problem.. it was because I crushed my cat on a rock. Grabbed that thing by its tail and SMACK! Dead cat.

What. I wish getting the cat off was that easy. Depending on your year it could be welded on both ends so you would have to cut it out and weld a new one in.

Mine was bolted via flange front and rear. I assume at least other 3.4 would be the same. So the 3.8 cat is welded?

Mine is held in place by a bracket and welded on both ends and I have a 99 3.8.
