2.25" Piping & High Flow Cat

If I get the Catco 3" in an out but leave the stock pipes what will be the overall effect? Ideally, I'm looking for a Z28 S and I Pipe but if I can't find one before the Cat arives, what should I do. I don't want to spend 100 on an I pipe. Also, I got the 2.5" Dynomax Superturbo waiting to be installed. So what do you guys think about keeping the stock pipes or should I just be patient and keep looking?

If you're planning on getting bigger pipes anyway, I wouldn't put the cat on until you got the pipes. Saves money for installation and time... or just time if you're doing it yourself.

Getting bigger pipes might be a bit of a problem for you because on the '96 and newer Camaros the O2 sensor is in the stock pipes. A lot of muffler shops will not want to mess with anything that has to do with the computer. Make sure if you do get the pipes replaced that its by someone that knows how to work with that kind of thing. This is the problem that I had-wanted to get bigger pipes with my flowmaster muffler, but they didnt want to do it. Any good shop can make an attachment for your 2.25 inch piping to fit a 3inch cat though. I watched the guy fit my pipes to my muffler.

I have that now b/c i went back to stock except for the cat. Soon i'll be putting on my RKSport headers and Corsa catback.

It was noticeably louder with the cat on there with the stock exhaust. Then when i added the lid it made it even louder. I never thought it added any noise with just the lid, but it sure did this time.

my muffler guy had no problem redoing my o2 sensor, just cut a hole in the pipe and put in a o2 holder and put it all back together after he welded the holder in, no biggie at all, why stay with 2.25? i love my 3 inch badass boost at 3.5k

Are you guys that are installing the 3" catbacks loosing some low end torque? All the manufacturer I deal with recommend 2.5 inch tubing for the V6 for this reason. However, i would love to hear from feedback!

i lost a little but you can feel it come back at 2k ( where i now launch ) and just regular driveing unless you have a auto you never feel a difference unless you start your car in 3rd ( from experience i know its a slug from 3rd and picks righ up at 2k ) and then you feel another big boost at 3.5k

I'll know after this weekend.
Previously i had headers and the GMMG catback and i didn't lose anything down low. I could roast through 1st on my stock converter. I'm anxious to see how much it helps now with my PI3500 converter and full 3 inch exhaust again. I'll keep ya updated. [img]smile.gif[/img]
