loud backpressure popping

I just took out my cat and put a cutoff in place and then redid the cat-back with a SS catback, it had a magnaflow muffler, well anyway when i let off the gas (like when i'm shifting or coasting) it makes a really loud popping like a semi coasting... whats that?

From what I understand, it's the lack of backpressure. I know when I open my borla up it gives me that sounds, and when i close it, i don't get it. Someone else said on this board once that it was the lack of backpressure. From what you said you did with your exhaust, it sure sounds like the same thing, a lack of backpressure.

well you would assume if i put my cat back on it will take care of the problem? lord i hope so... it's annoying... i can't go over 2500 rpm's and shift unless i wanna make a farting noise all over the place... i thought my cat was bad, i looked thru it when we took it out and it just looked like a buncha screens and i could see all the way thru so i guess it was fine... /sigh i'm gonna put that back on and today i replaced the magnaflow muffler cause one side was letting air out but the other was stopped up or something... still sounds like a fart cannon when i let off the gas pedal on revving...
