What is a cut -out

I always see people talking about taking putting on a cut out, or say just make it a cut out. if you don't mind me asking. whats a cut out?

u can put it front or behind the cat on the I pipe it makes the car louder.. u can get one from summit racing or flow tech almost anywhere that sales exhaust stuff. if u want your car louder then it is for really cheap then thats the way to go..the part cost anywhere from $15 to $45 depending on the size.. i got mine behind the cat and mine is hella loud and i still got a stock I pipe and cat so its gonna be even louder when i move up to a 3 inch.. so try it if u don't like it cap it back up

To answer WHAT it is, it's basically a detour for your exhaust gasses. Instead of going through your cat, you can put it in front or before your cat, and all the exhaust goes out the cut-out (hella loud, I don't like it there). Or you can out it after the cat and before the muffler (most common place) and it bypasses the muffler. This is an inexpensive way to get loud exhaust sounds. Some poeple such as myself love it, some do not. Like mentioned in the last post, if you like it great, if you don't, cap it up and you don't have to listen to it anymore.
