  • header hp?

how much hp gain will a set of aftermarket headers effect my car that already has a high flow cat back system? Also, how much more hp do you think I have over stock?

well in our cars we have 200 hp, but we lose 15% of that by the time that it gets to our tires.

Ours cars come stock with like 160-170 HP. Supposebly 180 RWHP or 200 or what ever but that is in maybe perfect conditions on a brand new car with a little stretching the truth.

It depends on other mods. I dont think they add much at all, maybe 5. Makes it sound alot better though.

well, after year 99, they introduced tubular exhaust manifold instead of log manifolds...gains are minimal then...correct me if im wrong there.

okay...but with tubular manifolds, the f-bodies are still rated 200hp like before, why then?

Makes life easier on GM. Costs money to change numbers. Probably not enough gain to warrant changing it. Just my .02

gains depend on the rest of the system. 10 rwhp on a bolt-on's car is prolly expected, more if you have internal mods.

I have seen many 3.8 specs stating either 200 hp or 205 hp. My guess has always been that the ones with the tubular manifolds produce 205. So i have always stated to people that my engine comes stock with 205hp. Its probibly a combo of the stright tb and tube mans that give it that extra 5 who knows but if you search the net you see what i mean about the 205hp specs.

Im surprised no one has dyno'd this. I unfortunately have done more than just headers so it would not be an accurate number.

BTW, I think we lose more than 15% at the wheels or were not at 200 to start. Ive seen people with intake and exhaust mods dyno at 160.
