Well, I notice during the day when its hot as hell (Im in TX) my car runs like complete ****. I hate driving during the day bc it feels like it has NO pickup. When the sun goes down and the engines cool, the car runs like a dream I love driving it. My question is, which CAI gives the coldest air and also, will this solve my problem during the day or am I just screwed during the day? Anyone able to point me to a custom made intake I can make from home depot or something? I dont wanna spend $300 on the K&N FPIK, it looks great but its a filter and plastic. The SLP CAI looks good but doesnt the metal just sit NEXT to the radiator? Wouldnt that heat the air up just as well?

hot air is hot air. it wont matter what you do the car will run pretty much the same.

Heh it's to bad we can't run A/C air into the intake and shoot our own Cold Air when we need it by turning on the A/C...

...But then again the power gain would be neglected by running the A/C anyway so... [img]tongue.gif[/img]

All I meant was will the placement of the CAI bring in better air? Im thinking the air sucked from next to the radiator is whats so hot bc of a mix of the weather and the radiator.

slightly but you really wont notice a difference on hot days.

it's been 90+ a few times here and with mine (and my ssra) it runs great. It stays cool and also there is still a gap between the metal part and the radiator above the air dam so the radiator gets plenty of air.

more air is always better than less air, try this:
remove the top air filter cover & filter. below this there is a removable tray. when this is removed, you can see the radiator support. reinstall the tray & use it as a pattern to cut two holes out of the top of the radiator support. before you reinstall every thing, take some foam and seal up the area around the new openings, so that a "pressure" effect will happen at highway speeds.

also, the top cover of the air filter needs some work. grind off all the baffles and vertical brace.

this increased my air flow tremendously. i felt a difference around town & highway. and it cost me nothing, but a little time.

phoenix, I'm in Texas too, and I did a resistor mod on the IAT sensor (which tricks the ECM into thinking it's getting cold air anyway), and noticed a definite difference. Not sure if you want to go that route, but it's something I tried, and experienced some better acceleration...just keep an eye on the temp gauge during stop and go driving in 1st.

I just ordered a K&N cone filter, and am going to make my own assembly, and try using that with the resistor mod.
